International Student Honour Code
We want our school to be a safe and moral place where young people can grow and study. This is why we ask all students in Grade 5 and above to sign the following Honour Code. It is based on these two Christian beliefs:
- We want to love God with our whole being and to love our neighbour as ourselves. (Mark 12:12-31)
- We want to live a life of faith by God’s power in happy obedience to the moral teachings of the Bible. An example of these may be found in Ephesians 4:29-5:21.
I agree to the following guidelines:
A. I will follow the behaviour standards of Halifax Christian Academy, knowing they are in place to build good character, as well as to provide a healthy and safe environment in which to go to school. I agree with the desire of Halifax Christian Academy to educate the whole person.
B. I promise that while a student at Halifax Christian Academy I will not smoke tobacco, drink alcohol, use illegal drugs, or take part in cheating, gambling, sexual activity, or any form of violence or abuse.
C. I agree to follow the school’s dress code.
D. I will try to make right choices of entertainment, music, and all media, staying away from anything that admires or promotes violence, the occult or any perversion.
E. I understand that the School will encourage me to go to an evangelical church at least once a week
F. I reserve the right to choose for myself whether or not to accept Christianity.
G. I agree to attempt to speak in English and only in English while at school, in order to improve my conversation skills, and to encourage other international students to do the same.
H. I agree to pay tuition fees in advance. I understand that if I cannot complete the school year for any reason, until March 1st the unused part of the tuition and homestay payment will be refunded, counted from the end of the month in which I leave. One additional month’s tuition will be retained as a withdrawal fee. Also, any expenses incurred by Halifax Christian Academy in facilitating withdrawal will be deducted from the refund.
I. I will do my best to help Halifax Christian Academy provide a school where there is respect for authority and peers, and a high moral standard. This will lead to my personal growth and excellence in education.
I agree that these standards of behaviour apply both at school and away from school, for as long as I am a student at Halifax Christian Academy.
